Rhoda Wager (1875-1953) came to Australia in 1918 from Britain via Fiji, and produced distinctive wirework Arts & Crafts jewellery in Sydney until retiring in 1946. Her niece Dorothy Judge, nee Wager (1912-2001), worked with Dorothy from 1928, and continued in the same style after Rhoda retired.

Rhoda Wager (1875-1953), jewellery designer, was born on 10 March 1875 at Mile End Old Town, London, one of five children of George Wager, warehouseman, and his wife Jane Annabella, née James. Brought up at Bristol, she attended the local art school, then studied drawing and painting at the School of Art, Glasgow (1897-1903).

Australian School is spot on though. We see this style of jewellery here, but most of it was not made by Wager even though it is often attributed to her. The Powerhouse Museum coined the term Australian School to identify it. Apart from her niece, Wager had many apprentices who went on to make jewellery in their own right.
